I started Kids in Motion in 2013 because I couldn’t find any summer camps in the Dundas area that focused less on skills related or sports specific techniques and more on fun outdoor play in a non competitive environment. So, I created Kids in Motion. A sports camp that focuses less on specific sports skills and more on unstructured play in a structured environment. Kids still learn basic fundamentals of the given sport we play but the emphasis is on fun and fun only.
The camp is for any child of any gender age 5 to 14. Please note, the kids all play together. I do not separate them into groups based on their age or skill level. Everyone plays together. And don’t worry if your child isn’t an athlete, this camp is for everyone no matter their athletic skill level. Please understand that at my camp, your child will run and jump all day, get dirty, will be exhausted by the end of the day and most of all they will have a great time. My #1 rule for the kids is “to get as dirty as you possibly can”
The camp is hosted in the beautiful Dundas Driving Park. The park has fantastic amenities. Clean washrooms, pavilions that we use for lunch and shade when needed, sports fields and open grass areas, a beach volleyball and basketball court, 2 separate kids play areas, a splash pad that we frequent daily to cool off and the forested area where we play all afternoon.
The sports that we play are Soccer, Flag Football, Basketball and the kids favorite, Sandball, played in the beach volleyball court. The sports are played in the morning when it’s not as hot. The afternoon time is filled with playing Manhunt and Capture in the forested area of the Driving Park. Throughout the week, your child will not only be running, jumping, climbing and getting dirty but they will also learn skills on how to better work together, learn to communicate with one another, organize themselves into groups and I help the older kids to develop leadership skills.
Thursday afternoons is HIKE Day. We hike to Spencer Gorge, below both Webster’s and Tew’s Falls. We catch Crayfish and swim in the rock pools. You can view videos and pics of this day.
